With nearly two decades of problem-solving experience worldwide, Tom has spent many years both practicing and coaching hundreds of engineers in statistical problem solving and lean manufacturing methods. He also regularly assists upper management to improve overall productivity and profit margins, reduce scrap, and ensure quality products are being shipped promptly.

Prior to starting Lightning Problem Solving LLC., Tom has served in a multitude of consulting engagements following nine years at General Motors as a problem solving expert. Tom received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in 1999, was certified by General Motors as a Master of statistical problem-solving strategies in 2002, and certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt in 2017. His expertise in various problem-solving methodologies combined with years of practical, hands-on experience worldwide has made him an authority on all things related to problem solving and lean manufacturing.
